Monitoring current consumption is a catch-all type of testing that can't always diagnose the specific failure. THT has found it prudent to supplement those catch-all tests with specific tests that hone in on root cause. Together, that information provides valuable insight to product developers as to why their product or yield is struggling.

Having over-current protection keeps the equipment online and performing its job.  The current-sensing feature allows test computers to measure current consumption of a device of a known state. If the consumption is off by so many sigmas from the norm, that device is failed and flagged for inspection.
